There is Good to Come

Issue 2 of the FAITH and Flourish Sunday Newsletter a continuation from Issue 1...

Happy Holy Week!

I went to church last night and heard an incredible message from the Campus Pastor. I was reminded of the power of the Cross and the Resurrection and the hope that one day, when this life is over, I’ll be with Jesus in Paradise.

Later, in my journal, I was reflecting on the phrase: “There is good to come.”
I realized that my current situation will one day be my past situation. And while it feels rocky right now, it won’t always be this way.

I wrote: “I want to give up and throw in the towel…”
Then I thought about Jesus in the garden and how He knew what was coming. He asked His Father to take the cup from Him… three times.

What if He had put the cup down?
My life could never compare to His suffering, but because He didn’t give up, because He endured death and conquered the grave, I now have the gift of good to come.

Not just in eternity, but here, now.
Yes, I can dwell on my past, or feel stuck in my present. But I choose instead to lift my eyes to the hills, and trust that God has more in store, both in this life and the one to come…

F – Focus Verse

Isaiah 43:18–19 (NIV)
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

A – Affirmation

"I am walking toward greater. My past holds beauty, but my future holds promise. I believe there is still good to come, because God is not done."

I – Insight

If your best days are behind you, you’re not living correctly.

That doesn’t mean you haven’t had wonderful seasons, of course you have. But the God who raised Jesus from the grave is still doing new things. If we only dwell in memories, we miss the miracles still being written.

Holy Week reminds us of this very rhythm: pain, pause, then promise.

Friday was heavy. Saturday was silent. But Sunday was coming.

Your Sunday is coming too.

There is still joy to be felt, art to be created, peace to walk in, and dreams to be fulfilled. Your best days are not behind you. There is good to come.

T – Try It

Journaling Prompt:
Write the phrase: “There is good to come because…”
Then finish the sentence with 3 truths rooted in your faith or your hope.
Use Psalm 27:13–14 as your closing reflection:
“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

Creative Prompt:
On a blank page, draw a line down the middle.
On the left, reflect on “what was” a past season, memory, or answered prayer.
On the right, create an image, list, or vision board of “what’s still to come.”
Label it: Resurrection on the Other Side.

H – Hope

God isn’t asking you to pretend the past didn’t happen. He’s inviting you to trust that He’s not done.

Lean into the resurrection story this week, not just as history, but as your future. Something beautiful is rising. Keep walking.

Prayer:
God, thank You that the best is not behind me. Even when things feel unclear or quiet, You are working in the waiting. Teach me to trust You for what's ahead and believe that resurrection is always on the other side. In Jesus' name, Amen.
