I have been reading Draw the Circle by Mark Batterson, and it has been so amazing. One of the ladies from my bible study group called She Sits At His Feet shared it with the group and asked if anyone wanted to join. I felt as if the Holy Spirit did that elbow to the rib and I immediately said yes. I started the next day. If you have ever experienced that “RIGHT ON TIME” thing, this was that.
Every day there is a new title, new subject, new testimonies, new encouragement and somehow, each day aligned with what I was experiencing. I would begin in prayer saying something specific, and while I am reading it, God is answering my prayers. It was crazy. The Holy Spirit knew I was going to need this at this time because let me tell you, roller coaster of events that took place was something that would have you glued to the television.
One of the biggest things I experienced within the first week of reading the book, my boyfriend of 3.5 years broke up. I had to teach art classes and camps. I had to do events. I had to keep on living while depressed, sad, and disappointed. One of the days talked about having to take the first step and then the signs will appear. It was pertaining to the Jordan River. I sent a message to the lady who suggested it to me and got to talk about it. It was right on time.
Another day I vividly remember was a specific prayer before reading the devotional for that day. While I was reading it, the Holy Spirit was speaking to me, telling me to do something. (I am not going to share today but one day I will.) Oh, also, my book was used and someone’s highlights, notes, and prayers were in that book. Let me tell you, the prayer that I prayed before reading, the person who had the book wrote the same exact prayer. CRAZY!! RIGHT ON TIME!!
I have been struggling with my age, and feeling like I am so behind in life and yesterday’s Draw the Circle devotional was speaking to me and the Holy Spirit placed on my heart that I am not too late. I was reflecting on how I am stepping into my purpose as a Creative Arts Minister at the age of 40. I was like why couldn’t I have started this at a young age. Also, how everything just shifts, I was doing one thing and now I am being called to something else. He began to drop people in my spirit who started later in life and literally changed the world. People like:
Moses who was called at 80
Paul who once was called Saul lived his whole life and then had his Damascus experience.
Peter who was just chilling working as a fisherman, then Jesus came and told him he will now be a fisher of men
All the women who are having children after 40- I am praying for my husband so I can have some babies.. pray for me.
Alma Thomas who began her art career after she retired.
There are so many more and I know you can think of people who started later in life as well. I have to keep telling myself that it is not too late and that I am right on time with what God is calling me to do!
I just wanted to share some encouragement with you expecially if you feel behind in life or unsure of your calling and purpose that when you just abide and trust in God, everything will fall into place.
This thought began when I was thinking about how God opened the door for me to paint window murals for businesses this past week. I never painted large spaces. I never painted on windows for retail businesses but I feel so in purpose and it melts my heart. I keep saying and believing that I will be a full time creative arts minister and I believe God wants me to be that too.
Reflection Questions
Have you ever had a “right on time” moment where God spoke directly to your heart through someone or something?
What is something that has recently shifted in your life that you didn’t expect but now see as part of God’s plan?
Are there any dreams or callings that you’ve set aside because you thought it was “too late”? What would it look like to pick them up again with faith?
Who are some people (biblical, historical, or personal) that inspire you because they stepped into purpose later in life?
What prayer or heart’s desire have you been quietly holding onto that you’re ready to speak boldly before God?
Creative Challenge
Title: “Right On Time” Visual Journal Page
Create a journal spread or art piece based on the phrase “Right on Time.” Use any materials you love, paint, collage, doodles, photos, or digital design.
Prompts to guide your creativity:
Illustrate or symbolize a moment when God showed up just when you needed Him.
Include scripture, dates, words, or quotes that align with your testimony.
Try incorporating layers, just like life has layers, maybe through texture, overlapping colors, or transparent paper.
Bonus: Add a prayer or declaration about what you’re believing God for next.
Take a picture of your creation and title it “Right On Time.” Keep it somewhere visible or share it with someone who needs encouragement today.
