Co-Creating with God: How Creativity, Faith, and Childlike Joy Are Changing My Life

Dear God,
Please allow me to use my passions of creating, writing, and teaching to glorify and honor You.

That has been my quiet prayer, spoken in early mornings and whispered over blank pages. Lately, I’ve been watching it come to life.

God is blessing the very gifts He placed inside of me. Creativity, voice, joy, these things I once saw as "just hobbies" are becoming the ways I connect with others and with Him. Doors are opening, ideas are flowing, and I’m learning what it means to truly co-create with God. Not perform. Not strive. But walk in rhythm with the One who made me to make.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to host my largest Christian paint party yet. Over 45 women gathered in a church sanctuary following a powerful message about anxiety. It was a sacred moment, one that confirmed so much of what I’ve been feeling in this season.

After the message, we painted…

There was something healing in that space. Quiet joy. Unforced creativity. Women who had just heard the Word were now sealing it with color. It reminded me of this simple truth: creating can be worship too.

One of the most common things I hear when I lead creative workshops is, “I’m not an artist.” I usually smile and respond, “Just you wait.”

Because I believe everyone is creative. Some of us just forgot. We’ve grown up, become responsible, stayed safe, and traded wonder for worry. But the childlike spark is still there. It just needs space to breathe again.

That’s part of why I wrote my new book, Pray, Play, and Paint: Reviving the Inner Child Through Faith.

It’s a creative journal for the woman who’s tired of holding it all together, and ready to reconnect with the playful, faith-filled girl inside. Inside the book, you’ll find short essays, prompts, coloring pages, declarations, and reflections to stir both your creativity and your faith.

This book isn’t about being an artist. It’s about being free

.

It’s an invitation to rest, to reflect, to make a mess, and to know that God delights in you, not for your perfection, but for your presence.

If your soul has been craving a reset, a slower rhythm, or simply more joy, I hope Pray, Play, and Paint meets you right where you are. You don't have to earn rest. You don’t need to prove your worth. And you don't have to go it alone.

Let’s remember what it means to play again.
Let’s paint our prayers.
Let’s create with God.

Reflect & Respond

  1. When was the last time you created something just for fun, not for a deadline or approval?

  2. Have you ever silenced your creativity because you believed it wasn’t “good enough”? Where do you think that belief started?

  3. What would it look like for you to co-create with God in this season?

  4. What childhood joy or hobby have you left behind that still whispers to you?

  5. In what ways has your faith felt more like performance than presence? How might you return to simple delight in God?
